Interview with: Joshua Barone
Length: 7 minutes, 06 seconds
Summary: House flooded, living in a FEMA trailer in River Ridge. Wedding soon after the storm in November. Stayed during the storm. Got to his office downtown with work very soon after the storm. Looking to leave the New Orleans area eventually.
Notes: Cars driving by are loud, try to find quieter locations in future. Set up tripod more right in front of me so it looks like people are looking into the camera when they’re looking at me. I kind of like the hand-held camera better. Still debating it though…

Interesting about Joshua’s grandma’s house being more hurricane resistant. Are the houses that are going up now doing this as well?
…on May 16th, 2006, at 6:20 pmThe overall sad vibe and feeling that Joshua described (”New Orleans just doesn’t feel like home anymore”) is exactly what’s bothering my boyfriend as we pour ourselves into renovating his house (he was renovating it pre-K anyway, but there was serious roof damage and some structural issues on the back/side of the house after all that water & wind damage…everything slowed to a crawl).
We’re working so hard to make it a home, but a home in a city that depresses the hell out of you is no kind of home at all.
